Your agreement with us

By creating an account, accessing, or using MakiRoll, you agree to these Customer Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you buy a plan, our Payment Terms also apply and form part of this agreement.

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you must have permission from a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms for you.

What MakiRoll does

MakiRoll guides a recorded conversation, transcribes your answers, identifies possible takes, suggests an order, and lets you approve and export a cut. It is available through supported web, iOS, and Android applications and is not a general-purpose video editor.

AI-generated questions, transcripts, and take suggestions can be incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable. You decide what to keep, export, publish, or rely on. We do not promise a particular video length, platform result, audience response, or business outcome.

Your account

You are responsible for accurate account information, keeping your credentials secure, and activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised. You may not sell, transfer, or share an account in a way that circumvents plan limits.

Your content

You keep ownership of the recordings, transcripts, and videos you create. You give us a limited license to process your content only as needed to operate, secure, and improve MakiRoll, provide support, and comply with law, as described in our Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for your content and for having every permission needed to record, process, export, publish, or share it. This includes consent from anyone recorded and rights relating to copyright, trademarks, privacy, publicity, and confidential information.

Recordings and storage

MakiRoll is local-first. Raw recordings and finished cuts stay on your device or in the local or cloud workspace you choose; they are not stored on MakiRoll’s servers. Account and project metadata may sync. You are responsible for keeping copies of content you need and for understanding the deletion and retention controls of your device and chosen storage provider.

Subscriptions and purchases

Your first three videos are free. Current paid plans, features, usage allowances, prices, currencies, taxes, renewal terms, and promotions are shown before purchase. Checkout information controls if it differs from marketing copy. Full billing rules are in our Payment Terms.

Creem is the Merchant of Record for new web purchases. When Creem bills you, you also agree to the Creem Buyer Terms shown at checkout. Eligible existing web subscriptions may remain with Stripe. Mobile purchases are governed by the applicable Apple App Store or Google Play purchase terms.

Subscriptions renew until cancelled. Cancel through the provider that billed you. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the current paid period unless your provider says otherwise. Deleting the app or your MakiRoll account does not itself cancel a subscription.

Acceptable use

You may not use MakiRoll to:

• Break the law, violate another person’s rights, or record someone without required consent.
• Create, process, store, or share sexual, pornographic, exploitative, abusive, hateful, fraudulent, or otherwise unlawful content.
• Interfere with the service, bypass access or usage limits, probe for vulnerabilities, distribute malware, or overload our systems.
• Reverse engineer the service except where law expressly permits it, or attempt to extract our source code, models, prompts, credentials, or other protected systems.
• Use automated means to scrape the service or build a competing dataset, model, or product without our written permission.

Our intellectual property

We and our licensors own MakiRoll, including its software, design, branding, and service content other than your content. We give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the service in accordance with these terms. No other rights are granted.

Third-party services

MakiRoll relies on third-party platforms and providers for hosting, authentication, storage, AI processing, analytics, app distribution, and billing. Their own terms may apply to your direct use of those services. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our reasonable control.

Availability and changes

Recording is designed to continue through a temporary network interruption, but live questions, transcription, take-finding, billing, and account sync may require a connection. We may add, remove, or change features and may suspend the service for maintenance, security, legal, or operational reasons.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using MakiRoll at any time. We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access if you materially breach these terms, create risk or harm, fail to pay, or if required by law. Where reasonable, we will give notice and an opportunity to fix the issue. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.

Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by law, MakiRoll is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, permanent storage, or the accuracy or quality of AI output. Nothing in these terms excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FjordKit Digital is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss, including lost recordings, failed exports, lost profits, or missed publication opportunities.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from MakiRoll will not exceed the amount you paid for MakiRoll in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. These limits do not apply where liability cannot lawfully be limited, including applicable mandatory consumer protections.

Changes, law, and contact

We may update these terms as MakiRoll or the law changes. We will post the current version here and provide additional notice for material changes where required. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms; if you do not, stop using the service.

These terms are governed by Danish law, without depriving you of mandatory protections available in your country of residence. Courts with jurisdiction under applicable law may hear disputes.
